The Värmland Gift (in Swedish)A unique gift that was presented to Sweden-America by the province of Värmland in 1952.
As part of the gift, each parish would send objects representative of their specific area. In 1952, the parishes in Sweden amounted to near 100, resulting in a wide variety of objects. They would contribute a piece to their own liking, something they found exciting, humorous and hopefully appreciated by the receiving relations.
The gift comprises everyday work tools, paintings, handcraft and textile artwork. One item was a joint gift donated by the entire province of Värmland – A replica of the bridal crown found at the Karlstad Cathedral.
